I just gave the heading of this article as “Art of sitting idle” just to dramatize and attract you to the article, but I am sure you will enjoy this as other blog posts.
Actually, I am going to discuss about “Art of sitting idle and relax”.
As we all might realize that the world around us is moving at very high speed. Late hours at work have become routine and we don’t feel guilt about it. There are numerous tasks ahead of us and we are running hard to catch up. Mobile phones and Blackberry have become more common and we are expected to be connected to the network 24 x 7 x 365.
In that process, we are missing a lot in our very short life. We are paying very high price. We are ignoring our body, mind and soul. I would say that many of us are atleast aware of taking care of body (by doing regular or at least irregular exercises, at least one time healthy food). But we are absolutely ignoring very important factor i.e., mind.
We don’t care/aware about the existence of mind and our need to take care of that. Since we are not doing, all sorts of unhealthy thinking getting into your sub-conscious mind and in turn it makes our life sick.
One of the medical journal estimates that every 2 out of 5 American requires a sleeping pill to sleep. Isn’t sleep should be natural? Because of our ignorance of mind, all these problems exist.
I am going to recommend to you “Art of sitting idle” to you.
Every day consciously spend time with Nature. At least 5 or 10 minutes to start with. It could be sitting in morning sun. It could be watching a bird. It could be watching a child sleep. It could be morning mist. It could be watching plants/flowers. It could be watching a sea/rain/river. It could be a bird’s feather flying in wind. Anything associated with nature.
I am not talking about morning activity like gardening, jogging, brisk walking – all that is really appreciated and it is focused to body. But all I am concerned about is our minds.
During this time with Nature, let sit and notice the beauty of this world. Embrace it in your mind. Talk to it. Appreciate it – All slowly and steadily.
The outcome would be multi fold. Over the time you would appreciate the fact that how much beautiful the nature is. It would relax your nerves and calms you down. It paints a nice picture in your mind and it is ready for that day’s work load. And when you are tense, your subconscious mind automatically brings in that picture in front of you resulting in calm mind, and it means greater power. Because Calmer mind brings in greater power.
Hi Again,
I thought that I should write this amidst the tough economic conditions.
The world is undergoing the Great Recession and many across countries lose their jobs, lose their money, lose their happiness, families, some even lives.
As many media reports have been published about this great recession, the source of the recession, the impact it made across globe, I don’t want to discuss the whole story again in detail. But in short it flowed as follows
US Real Estate Market Crash -> Subprime Loan Crisis -> Banks/Financial institutions bankrupt -> No cash liquidity -> Companies didn’t get money from bank to run business -> People lose jobs -> People restrict spending -> Causes low demand -> No jobs for factory -> People lose jobs -> People dont pay loans -> Home repossessions -> people suffer
etc., etc.,
One thing the media and the governments are doing is, it spreads fear among the people. Because of reading daily news reports about recession, fear of losing job / fear of salary cuts / fear of visa problems gets into our mind, and it in turn makes us feel sick / restricted.
What we persists it would resists.
Hence, my new age thought is live life as usual, if I ask you that only when the governments/media are claiming that there is recession, we acknowledge that. If there were no announcements of recessions, then wouldn’t we have lead a normal life?
Make spending as usual - I am not suggesting you spend recklessly.
All I can tell you - dont let fear enter your mind, think positive and live as if there is nothing called recession.
Please spread this message so that we can come out of this gloom. We can help ourself.
As usual, your valuable comments are welcome.
