Mastery in your field

Sunday 5 June 2011 @ 10:08 pm

Everyone started fresh in your field. All today’s super stars were started as freshers in their field and over the period of time, practice, hard work and with risk taking winner’s attitude, they are what they are.

Some where I read that average time people try new things is less than 1. It is a bit of shame. We need to try new things to understand in which field you are good at,and relentlessly put your efforts, study lot of materials, brainstorm with intelligent people in your field, attend seminars, workshopts to fine tune your skill and you can achieve mastery in your field.

Patience is key thing here. I think it will take a period of 3 to 5 years to achieve the mastery (top 10%) and much more effort you need to put in to maintain that. Time is going to pass anyway, so why not achieve mastery instead of being in bottom 90% of the people.

Labour of Love – a secret of success

Sunday 2 August 2009 @ 8:23 pm

Labour of Love – a new term to secret of success. It means that if you love wholeheartedly what you do then you excel in what you in your field and get success. There are many examples of great personalities who do what they love most and get success.

One such example is Hollywood movie director Steven Spielberg who started making movies from the age of 16. He once said in an interview that since every young age he dreamt of him as a story teller and he chosen his medium as films. He said that he loves doing that and hence he can get success in his field.

If you dont love what are you doing, then no matter what, you cannot go beyond a certain limit in success. If you do what you love most and do that in little different way, then success would be in your door step.

Thank you.

Do things differently

Saturday 25 July 2009 @ 10:27 am

I read a quote which I really liked and would like to share with you. “If you always do same things you always get what you always got”.

We can apply this thought in any area of our life i.e., in our career, in our personal life. Let me give you an example, in your job if you do the routine work every day, you always get the result as you got previously. Your management will consider you as a sincere worker, thats it – nothing else. In case of considering the promotion and other benefits, it is very unlikely your name come into your management’s mind.

The same situation if you show some efficiency – new ways to improvement, then first of all, you yourself will enjoy your work, next senior management would love you. All benefits would come to you and you dont have to go behind it.

Art of sitting idle

Wednesday 24 June 2009 @ 1:50 pm

I just gave the heading of this article as “Art of sitting idle” just to dramatize and attract you to the article, but I am sure you will enjoy this as other blog posts.

Actually, I am going to discuss about “Art of sitting idle and relax”.

As we all might realize that the world around us is moving at very high speed. Late hours at work have become routine and we don’t feel guilt about it. There are numerous tasks ahead of us and we are running hard to catch up. Mobile phones and Blackberry have become more common and we are expected to be connected to the network 24 x 7 x 365.

In that process, we are missing a lot in our very short life. We are paying very high price. We are ignoring our body, mind and soul. I would say that many of us are atleast aware of taking care of body (by doing regular or at least irregular exercises, at least one time healthy food). But we are absolutely ignoring very important factor i.e., mind.

We don’t care/aware about the existence of mind and our need to take care of that. Since we are not doing, all sorts of unhealthy thinking getting into your sub-conscious mind and in turn it makes our life sick.

One of the medical journal estimates that every 2 out of 5 American requires a sleeping pill to sleep. Isn’t sleep should be natural? Because of our ignorance of mind, all these problems exist.

I am going to recommend to you “Art of sitting idle” to you.

Every day consciously spend time with Nature. At least 5 or 10 minutes to start with. It could be sitting in morning sun. It could be watching a bird. It could be watching a child sleep. It could be morning mist. It could be watching plants/flowers. It could be watching a sea/rain/river. It could be a bird’s feather flying in wind. Anything associated with nature.

I am not talking about morning activity like gardening, jogging, brisk walking – all that is really appreciated and it is focused to body. But all I am concerned about is our minds.

During this time with Nature, let sit and notice the beauty of this world. Embrace it in your mind. Talk to it. Appreciate it – All slowly and steadily.

The outcome would be multi fold. Over the time you would appreciate the fact that how much beautiful the nature is. It would relax your nerves and calms you down. It paints a nice picture in your mind and it is ready for that day’s work load. And when you are tense, your subconscious mind automatically brings in that picture in front of you resulting in calm mind, and it means greater power. Because Calmer mind brings in greater power.

Gratitude and your brain

Sunday 21 June 2009 @ 10:07 pm

I heard from Amma Bhagavan (www.onenessuniversity.org) that brain as a organism work better when you feel gratitude.

I thought of putting that in practice. Everyday I wake up or pray to the god, I feel grateful to god for all the things happened in my life. I make sure that I dont fume in my prayers nor when I talk with people. I as a person have become much more happy, clearer in vision and leading a healthy life.

In addition to this there are many other things which I have put together and sharing with people in my website www.vedicsecret.com

I wish that people learn those and be happy.

Involvement brings Importance

Sunday 29 March 2009 @ 7:27 pm

Many of us usually tell that we don’t get growth or importance in our company. Many of us feel that those who do buttering their managers would get promotions, good salary hike, etc.,.
Many of us feel why only certain people are very close to Managers and why we are not included in some of the decision making process in the official activities.

Many of us also feels that our managers are biased based on factors like caste / religions / gender based and they only get all the credits / promotions / hike / etc.,

Though sometimes it is true, but most of the times we fail to see the success/talent of those people who shares a good official relationship with your managers.

I would like to share my new age thought on this subject.

One point everyone should remember that Company pay salary for those who do their work, and those who go extra mile gains importance.

In order words, Involvement brings Importance.

If you do what you are asked to do, then you are one of the team member. If you do what others haven’t thought about, then you stand out of the crowd and become visible to your manager.

I always correlate peoples as websites, and google search engine as managers. If google searches a particular term, then the most famous website shows up first for those terms searched. How Google arrives it? One of the main logic is page rank and number of other websites linking the main website.
As many website refers the main website for the content, then the main website comes a rank 1 and shows up first in the google search.

Similarly if you are strong enough in particular area and if everyone refers you in that particular area, then you are making yourself visible to your manager.

Also if you have any other special details up to date, then your manager would refer you for that information. For e.g., If you know, all the hotels who offer discount lunch – then your manager would reach out to you to organize a business lunch. If you know, all the international air timings from your area airport, then your manager would reach out to you to organize clients travel plans.

If you involve in your other teams activities, give consultation, help them to achieve their goals, automatically the news would reach your manager and you get noticed for your involvement.
I would suggest, let us stop complaining or feeling jealous about people who are currently critical in your company, and you study that person’s success and try to get inspiration from him.
